Bridal Beauty Rehearsal

“Why is a rehearsal for wedding hair and makeup recommended?”

A bridal trial, or, as I like to call it, a bridal hair and makeup rehearsal, is so helpful because you get the opportunity to define your look for the big day. A trial is relaxed; you have plenty of time to discuss your bridal beauty vision. You get to try out the hair and makeup, tweaking it as as you go.

A good idea is to bring inspiration photos of your favourite wedding hair and makeup looks. These can be found on Pinterest, Instagram (I.e from @tinaonthedaily), and even your own pictures where you felt like your hair and makeup made your feel confident.

Preparation for the rehearsal

1. Wear a top preferably in a similar color and cut to your wedding outfit and your earrings/necklace.

2. Shampoo roots 2-3 times on the day before or the morning of, and skip conditioner unless very dry and coarse hair. For shampoo, “John Masters Scalp Shampoo” is a great option!

After washing, dry hair completely with a blowdryer while brushing smooth. Please have clean, brushed, and 100% dry hair at your appointment. For curly hair, please follow your regular routine. For coarse or frizzy hair, I recommend to start blowdrying with ColorWow Dreamcoat on the final wash before your appointments.

3. Exfoliate and moisturise your skin the day before your appointment, and cleanse and moisturise again in the morning of. Stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure before the wedding day. Lip hydration is also super important!

4. Keep in mind that a lash lift replaces the option of individual temporary lash clusters. For very straight lashes, curl them the evening before your appointment so that lash clusters still can be applied.

Wedding Hair and Makeup Considerations

For hair, if you want voluminous Hollywood waves but have sparse hair, it might be a good idea to consider extensions to achieve this look. Without a trial, we would face limitations and need to search for a new hairstyle on your wedding day. Also, by trialing your hair, you are able to wear the style throughout the day to see if it stays and falls the way you envisioned.

Makeup varies significantly based on individual features like eye and face shape, skin type, and hair color. The eyeshadow that inspires you might look different on your eyes than on someone in an inspiration picture. That is why it is best to tryout these looks before your big day to ensure that you will look your very best. After your trial, you can wear the makeup around and see how your skin feels and acts with the products. If your skin appears too dry or oily, your artist can adjust the foundation to create the perfect finish, a valuable insight that wouldn’t be available without a trial.

The bridal trial allows you to experiment with hair and makeup, making adjustments along the way, so that everything is flawless when it’s time to say “I do.”
